Description/Duties :
The purpose of this job is to supervise staff and manage and evaluate programs and services for the Athletics Division of the Leisure Services Department. Under limited direction, provides oversight and direction to staff in the development, implementation, management and evaluation of all Athletics programs, operations and functions, including in-house programs and those run by outside youth sport providers; serves and contributes as a member of the Leisure Services Department management team and performs related duties as needed or required to meet the needs of the Department and the community. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to supervising staff, managing division facilities, long-range planning, managing marketing and visiting work units, preparing and managing the Athletics Division budget, planning and developing goals and objectives, managing and promoting programs and services, serving as liaison for the division's non-profit boards/commissions, coordinating and reporting on program data collected, and performing additional tasks as assigned.

This position is a professional level position (at-will) and serves at the discretion of the Department Director.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; with occasional weekend and holiday hours as needed.

SALARY: $48,215 - $60,269 (DOQ)

Required Skills :
 Qualified applicants must possess the following: 1. Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Administration or a related field; 2. Five years of related administration experience; or 3. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. 4. Three years of progressive responsible leadership and management experience with a performance record of effective business, management, leadership and organizational skills, including the ability to provide strategic leadership, implement sound business practices, build effective partnerships with constituencies, model a collaborative, respect-based supervisory style, and to develop, mentor and hold accountable employees and supervisors. 5. A valid driver's license.
Preferred Skills :
 Certification as CPRP (Certified Parks and Recreation Professional) is preferred. See the job description for further details.
