The Center for Creative Leadership African-American Leadership Program is one of the

few leadership development programs designed for and staffed by African Americans, this program offers a secure forum for exploring, in a substantive way, those issues that impact the career objectives of African-American professionals. It provides an exceptional leadership development experience rich in personal assessment and feedback, designed to stimulate a process of growth that will help each participant become more successful and productive.

Individuals evaluate their own leadership styles, discuss how others perceive their effectiveness, and receive guidance in developing practical and effective plans for personal and professional growth.

Who Should Attend: Mid- to senior-level African-American managers who want to strengthen their leadership effectiveness through a feedback-intense learning experience.

During this program, participants will: strengthen leadership styles and effectiveness; develop priorities, particularly as they relate to personal and professional development; identify potential career derailment hazards; enhance the ability to give and receive constructive feedback; develop innovative management techniques; enhance the ability to negotiate within, as well as to lead, a diverse workforce. develop understanding and key skills around mentorship; and establish a set of realistic, measurable goals and a plan of action to meet them.

Special Features: CCL research on African-American leadership issues is integrated throughout the program. The program includes a carefully structured peer feedback session, as well as a one-to-one session with a certified CCL feedback coach. In-depth reflection and feedback from several 360-degree assessments provide an opportunity to graph individual networks and to assess career effectiveness. The program includes a module to help leaders understand the impact of differences in the workplace (racial, cultural, religious, etc.) and helps them learn new ways of productively leveraging the opportunities those differences bring.
