Program Description: Multi-disciplinary program offering paid, short

term (3-24 months) positions with private industry, government and nonprofit organizations interested in the environment. Approximately 700 applicants are placed yearly. ECO places over 700 people each year through our regional offices. Interns have been given assignments in 35 states. While ECO does not typically place people internationally, currently there are associates located in Puerto Rico, Guam and American Samoa.

The length of an internship varies from three months to two years. Three-month projects are often available in the summer, and it is not uncommon for projects to be extended multiple times. Some projects even result in direct employment with the sponsoring organization.

The average stipend is between $10.00 and $12.00 per hour; typically stipends range from $7.50 to $15.00 per hour, and sometimes for hard-to-find skills the stipend can even go higher. Your stipend will depend on the nature of the internship, the type of organization sponsoring it, your degree level, your expertise and level of skill, and the standard of living in the region where you are placed. Some ECO Associates have received academic credits for learning done through this internship program.

Eligibility Requirements: Open to college juniors and seniors, graduate students, and postgraduates who have received their degree within the last 3 years. Apply at least two months before you are available for full-time work.
