The mission of the BAM Scholarship is to encourage and enable Black high school students

to (a) go to college, (b) realize the impact technology
has on the world, and (c) target a career in the technology industry.
The amount of the BAM Scholarship to be awarded is $2,500 annually,
which is paid through the Seattle Foundation on behalf of BAM to the
recipient’s school’s Financial Aid Office.
There is potential for an annual renewal of $2,500 for up to four
years for a total of $10,000. The criteria for renewal are that the student
must: 1) continue to be enrolled in a four-year college or university,
2) maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA, and 3) have declared a major
from the approved list.

The student must meet the following guidelines:
- Be a current high school senior of African descent.
- Plan to attend a four-year college or university of higher
learning in the fall of 2007.
- Declare a major in engineering, computer science, or computer
information systems.
- Demonstrate a passion for technology.
- Demonstrate leadership, either at school or in the community.
- Have earned a cumulative 3.2 GPA during high school.
- Require financial assistance to attend college.
