The American Medical Association (AMA) is seeking nominations for the Minority Scholars

Award, which is presented annually to 10 medical
students from minority groups historically underrepresented in the
medical profession.
The $10,000 awards are offered with support from the Pfizer Medical
Humanities Initiative. The award recognizes personal commitment to
improving minority health status, scholastic achievement and financial
need among minority students. Eligible candidates must be first- or
second-year medical students and must be nominated by a medical school
dean or dean's designate. Eligible students of minority

background include African American/Black, American Indian, Native Hawaiian, Alaska
Native and Hispanic/Latino. Each medical school is invited to submit up
to two nominees.
