Minority fellowships are available to a limited number of applicants for national

and regional conferences and for computer-assisted reporting
boot camps. The minority fellowship program has been made possible by
generous donations from the Chicago Tribune Foundation, the John S. and
James L. Knight Foundation, the Nicholas B. Ottaway Foundation, and the
Philip L. Graham Fund.
These fellowships are aimed at increasing the diversity of IRE's
membership and include a year's membership

fees. Applicants for this award should identify themselves with one of the following minority
groups: Black/African American, American Indian/Alaskan, Native
American, Asian-American, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino.
Fellowships to conferences include conference registration, membership
and stipends for travel and lodging. Fellowships to boot camps
(week-long seminars in computer-assisted reporting at the Missouri
School of Journalism) include an IRE membership, tuition waiver and
stipends for travel and lodging.
