Texas Baptists are concerned about higher education in a Christian atmosphere.
|
|
A dramatic expression of this concern is the Texas Black Baptist
Scholarship Program which provides grants to help worthy, capable
African American young people receive a Christian education. Applicants
are eligible for $800.00 per year, for four years to those who qualify.
The scholarships are funded through the Mary Hill Davis Offering for
State Missions sponsored annually by Woman’s Missionary Union
|
of Texas, Carolyn Porterfield, Executive Director-Treasurer.
As a result of this ministry to well deserving people, Isaiah’s
admonition “Learn to do well” has come to stand for more effective
service in Christ’s name.
All grants are for a maximum award of $3,200.00 over a four year period.
The benefits are dispursed as follows: Full-time enrollment- $400.00 per
semester or $266.66 per quarter; Part-time enrollment- pro-rated @
$33.33 per credit hour.
