The FASEB MARC Program provides funding for travel awards to support the
|
|
participation of Faculty/ Mentors and Students, and Poster/Oral
Presenters at selected scientific meetings and conferences. The awards
help to defray travel-related expenses (lodging, transportation, per
diem) associated with meeting/conference attendance. (Refer to the
Faculty/Students and Poster/Oral Presenter Travel Award applications for
the travel award amount). In addition to the travel award,
|
a $100 allowance to help defray the cost for meeting registration is provided.
Travel awards are processed as reimbursements to the award recipients.
An award recipient will be required to pay his/her meeting- and
travel-related expenses first, and then request reimbursement from the
FASEB MARC Program Office after completion of the meeting/conference.
There are two types of travel awards available:
- Faculty/Mentors and Students Travel Award: Each award provides
funding for one faculty member/mentor and up to two graduate or
undergraduate students from a minority institution to participate in one
of the selected national meetings or conferences. (See listing of
eligible meetings and conferences). The faculty/mentor must nominate up
to two graduate or undergraduate students who are pursuing research
careers in a life sciences discipline.
- Poster/Oral Presenter Travel Award: Each award provides funding for
one underrepresented minority graduate/ undergraduate student or
postdoctoral fellow who is 1st author and has been selected to give an
oral or poster presentation at one of the selected national meetings or
conferences. (See listing of eligible meetings/conferences).
